I do understand your lack of knowledge concerning the legality of making false claims and having them put into the public domain - it is not easy for a fan to come across something that exposes untruthfulness in their idol. That is the mainstream of fandom is the inability to bridge the gap between reality and myth. The reality is that Mr. Beckham is a good football player, the myth is that he is a former Cross Country champion. We have no problem with his talent and ability on the football pitch, we do however have issues concerning anyone making false claims about winning cross country championships.
